Supporting Schools to Explore Maritime Careers

The Maritime & Transport Careers Programme (MTCP) was delighted to support the Mountbatten Schools Work Enrichment Day for the third consecutive year, helping to launch the school's maritime-themed activities and inspire students to explore the wide range of careers available across the sector.

Working with students at the start of the day, the MTCP team introduced the diverse opportunities within the maritime industry, from engineering and logistics to port operations, environmental careers and customer services. The session helped set the scene for a day of employer engagement and career-related learning.

Reflecting on the event, Sindy Shakya said:

“Thank you so much for coming in again to launch the maritime theme with them, it set the tone just nicely for the rest of the day.”

Alongside supporting Mountbatten School, the MTCP team also attended the Testwood School Careers Fair, engaging with students and showcasing the exciting pathways available within the maritime and transport sectors. Events such as these play an important role in helping young people connect classroom learning with future careers and gain insight into local employment opportunities.

The MTCP is proud to continue working with schools across the region, helping young people discover the breadth of careers available within one of the South Coast's most important industries.
